Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha has today published a document obtained from the Ministry of Justice which, according to him, shows that the judge Irena Gjoka, who imposed two measures for the investigation of the "Partizani" file, was dismissed in 1996 for corruption and other violations.
Berisha said that the Ministry of Justice has played with the last names of the judge, Maneku and Gjoka, leaving her evasive, but that according to the former prime minister, she is the same person and that he is asking her to resign from the file she is examining.
"The judge (Irena Gjoka) has no dignity and is shamelessly hiding behind her crime. Today I am here in front of you and I have asked him to make public whether he was fired by Sali Berisha. He hid behind the crime he committed.
Since she is hidden, I am giving you this letter, which says that... it is the answer that the Ministry of Justice gives to the lawyers, which admits that the judge Irena Maneku has a disciplinary measure, but we do not know if it is Gjoka, this Maneku or another ".
That's funny, but that's the judge. Other documents will prove that this Gjoka is Maneku and Maneku is Gjoka, the same person who was fired by Sali Berisha for serious legal violations and corruption," he said.
The Special Court against Crime and Corruption decided as a security measure the obligation to appear before the judicial police as well as a ban on traveling abroad.
In a press conference, former prime minister Berisha called the accusations against him baseless and politically motivated.
The legality of the privatization of the Partizani Club sports fields, previously a field owned by the Ministry of Defense, has been investigated for several years by SPAK, under suspicions of large-scale corruption by former Prime Minister Sali Berisha, his son-in-law Jamarbër Malltezi and former head of the Ministry of Defense.
