"Impunity has ended", Rama: No one will stop us on the European path
Edi Rama

From the Diaspora Summit, Prime Minister Edi Rama did not hesitate to criticize the opposition regarding what he considers to be the tarnishing of Albania's name in foreign languages, in the international arena.

For weeks, Rama has been accusing the opposition of making every effort to hinder Albania's integration process into the European Union, while the country has opened all negotiation chapters in record time.

" Today we have opened all the chapters and we have done this in just 11 months. This progress is the result of the country's persistence and continuous efforts in the European integration process ," said Rama.

He compared Albania's journey to the experience of Albanian immigrants, saying that just as in the past they faced difficulties and a lack of attention in the countries they went to, Albania has also faced similar challenges in the integration process.

" Back then, the door to negotiations for EU membership was regularly closed to Albania, today we have opened all the group chapters, in record time, in just 11 months. Just like you when the door was closed in your face in those first steps on the streets of the world and no one had the time, trust, and attention to listen to you and understand how much you were worth, but you persisted, and after hiding your tears from the humiliation of the day, you returned in the morning waiting to be ready for the door when it opened. At the first Summit, the European future was the aspiration that remained far away, today it is a table where we are sitting together, face to face, with the ambition to close the negotiations in 2027 ", said the Head of Government.

Rama emphasized that impunity in Albania has ended, putting an end, according to him, to the time when the law only acted for the weak while the strong challenged it.

"Today impunity is a myth of the past in Albania and today Albania is a country where no one is above the law and justice is independent, as it has not been since the beginning of time, since 1912, until we willingly handed over the sword that belongs only to its hands, to do equal justice, for all, without sparing anyone ," said Rama.

Rama also sent a message to Albanians living outside Albania to invest in the properties of their ancestors, or in their country of origin.

" Albania does not end where its territory ends. It lives wherever we Albanians live. Beyond your individual success stories, you kept the invisible thread connected, a thread that no distance can break, made up of the language spoken at home, the traditions and memories passed down from father to mother, daughter to son. This thread is not nostalgia, but our strategic asset. It is the challenge that Albania and Albanians have today, to maintain and preserve it, to pass it on from generation to generation in an interconnected world. In a world where countries succeed, they are part of a single ecosystem.

This summit is not a ceremonial gathering, but a declaration of high convictions. The Diaspora is not on the periphery of Albanian life, but at its heart. This country is a great site of transformation that invites the Diaspora to invest in the future of Albania. When we started thinking about the first Diaspora summit, it was a moment of reunion in a country full of reborn hope. It was the first step to summon the power of the Diaspora, to feel stronger in the face of the challenge we must overcome, where today we are closer than ever.

My predecessor, whenever he entered Albania, counted himself as a tourist. There were 300-400 million euros of investments per year at that time, while today it has passed 1.2 billion euros of foreign investments per year. We handed her the sword that belongs only to her hands to do justice, for everyone, without sparing anyone! Then the door to the EU was closed, today we have closed all chapters in 11 months, in record time. Just like you when the door was closed to you in the hands of the world, and no one had time , "he said.
