Massive floods, Rama continues with the excuses: Irresponsible citizens, you
Prime Minister Edi Rama

Prime Minister Rama is holding a meeting with mayors in Golem today. The focus of the meeting is the problems facing municipalities, but also the challenges that need to be addressed.

At the beginning of his speech, Rama spoke again about the floods that our country experienced a few days ago, saying again that one of the causes is the waste that is thrown everywhere.

He continued his excuses by shifting the responsibility to the citizens. Rama directly links the situation to their lack of responsibility and emphasizes that everyday pollution is becoming a real danger during intense rainfall. He added that the floods showed that the citizens treated the place like a landfill.

"It is not foreign tourists who throw waste on the streets, they consider this place as a landfill wherever they are and throw empty water or soft drink bottles or plastic bags and all this large amount that is thrown on the streets, where the lack of proper management of household waste in rural areas also comes into play, is collected and thanks to the wind and water, it comes and blocks key points of the drainage networks, as happened in Shkozet, in Gjirokastra, in several other points, not to mention all of them," Rama said.

We recall that Rama previously warned of punishment for anyone who throws waste into blocked canals.

" The human factor has its own weight. I honestly don't know how to deal with the extreme arrogance towards nature that we as a people manifest every moment! The dizzying flows of plastic from rivers in these cases are frightening, disgusting, and criminal. We will continue to come up with new measures against this power of darkness in our brains like millets, increasing efforts for awareness, information, but also punishment," he said earlier.
