Democratic Party MP Edmond Spaho has reacted after his defeat in the May 11 elections, where he failed to secure a mandate in the Korça Region. He ran on an open list, but came out among the lowest voter turnout, ending his political engagement.
Through a public statement, Spaho announced that these were the last elections of his active parliamentary career and that he was leaving shocked by the result.
“I am shocked by the outcome of the May 11 elections. These elections were the last of my active career in Parliament,” he writes, thanking his family for the sacrifices made during his 35 years of political engagement.
Spaho expressed gratitude to the members and supporters of the DP in the Maliqi Branch and throughout the Korça Region, as well as to the citizens who have supported him over the years. “Without them, I would not have achieved anything in politics,” he added, while apologizing to the citizens for not being able to do more.
At the end of the statement, Spaho wished that the Democratic Party would find the strength to overcome the crisis and return as hope for the country: "I wish the Democratic Party would find the strength to overcome the difficult situation it is in and manage to return to hope for Albania."

I am shocked by the results of the May 11 elections! These elections were the last of my active career in Parliament.
I would like to extend my endless gratitude to my family for the great sacrifices they have made over the past 35 years to create the opportunity for me to pursue my passion.
I thank the members and supporters of the Maliq and Korça District branches of the Democratic Party for their continuous support. Without them, I would not have achieved anything in politics.
I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the citizens who trusted and voted for me over the past 35 years, and to apologize for not being able to do more for them.
I wish the Democratic Party the strength to overcome the difficult situation it finds itself in and to return to hope for Albania.
