On Friday, the Parliament will hold one of the most important meetings in recent months, where the Council for Regulation, Mandates and Immunity will review SPAK's request to authorize the arrest of Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku. Official sources confirm that opposition MPs will participate normally in this meeting, despite the disciplinary measures requested against them.
An hour earlier, the Ethics Secretariat is also expected to meet, where the socialist majority has requested the punishment of 29 opposition deputies after the tensions created in Thursday's plenary session. However, any suspensions by Ethics will not have the power to prohibit their participation in the Mandates Council, as they only apply to plenary sessions and committee meetings.
Meanwhile, representatives of SPAK will also be present at the Council meeting, including the prosecutor in the case, Dritan Prençi, prosecutor Dorina Bejko, and the new head of SPAK, Klodian Braho, who will have his first institutional confrontation in office.
A travel ban has already been imposed on Belinda Balluku, while the Special Court has not yet decided on her suspension from office, as the Constitutional Court's decision on the appeal filed by Prime Minister Rama is awaited, which will be reviewed on January 22.
