Democratic Party MP Jorida Tabaku has reacted regarding the initiative to restore the import of waste in the country. Tabaku says that the government is trying to turn our country into a waste bin.
She emphasizes that 'as the expenses for corruption installations in Tirana, Fier and Elbasan increase year after year, the government has turned its attention again to waste management'.
Jorida Tabaku says that Albania takes the worst examples from Europe, while asking the question "which incinerator will burn the imported waste?".
"Theft continues without shame, with three contracts that burden the citizens. Which incinerator will burn this waste? Or is the real plan to turn our country into a trash bin, as we have already become a launderer of dirty money and corruption?
We are what we do! A government that claims to follow EU policies on plastic bags in supermarkets, but then turns a blind eye and promotes incineration, is a hypocritical government. A government that beats its chest for tourism, while turning our country into the waste bin of Europe, is not the government of Albanians, it is the government of waste", writes Jorida Tabaku.
Tabak's reaction on Facebook:
In the process of integration, what are we ready to import from Europe? Waste or standards, values, norms and institutional democracy?
As the expenses for corruption installations in Tirana, Fier and Elbasan increase year after year, the government has again turned its attention to waste management. But for what purpose? To turn our country into the waste bin of Europe. And the method they have chosen? Incineration.
The Ministry of Tourism and Environment has opened for public consultation an initiative on the import of waste, which is clearly one of the next laws ordered. Meanwhile, Elbasan is facing a serious landfill crisis because the incinerator is not working. Fieri is drowning in waste, while 28 million euros have ended up in the bank accounts of thieves who are still being sought. Tirana remains the "icing on the cake" of this corrupt installation, where every time the mayor is proud of Tirana's incinerator, one day he denies its existence and the next day he advertises it as a success.
The theft continues shamelessly, with three contracts burdening the citizens.
A government that beats its chest for tourism, while turning our country into the waste bin of Europe, is not the government of Albanians, it is the government of waste!
Nothing justifies the fact that today Albania takes the worst examples from Europe, from the legalization of cannabis to the import of waste. But how did we not hear inspiration from the EU for the fight against corruption, for the protection of protected areas? We only remember when there are such favorable cases, where the list of beneficiaries is limited to only two or maximum three companies.
We know that Albania deserves more. We deserve a government that protects the environment, values our resources and puts the health and well-being of its people first.
Albania has all the potential to build a future where our country shines, not as a country of garbage, but as an example of integrity and prosperity. Therefore, the legal proposal must be scrutinized and rejected if it persists in the old waste import policy. As this is the right way to fight for Albania, which we know must be clean and free from the chains of corruption.
