Prime Minister Edi Rama is introducing the new Minister of Health, Evis Sala, this Saturday at the "Mother Teresa" University Hospital Center.
Evis Sala has taken up the position of Minister of Health in the "Rama 4" cabinet and was presented today at the QSUT premises.
The Prime Minister said that Ms. Sala "has stood out as an academic, physician and leader in some of the most renowned universities and hospital centers in the world."
As she listed her challenges, Sala, in the words of her superior, Edi Rama, said that she will digitalize medicine in Albania with Artificial Intelligence.
"Today is a very exciting day for me. I am returning to a place where I studied. When I came in the morning I was pleasantly surprised and seeing the changes I told myself it is better than in many places where I have worked. It is a big challenge but those who know me know that I like challenges. However, I have always faced challenges with a team, when the team is good, the boss's work is also good.
What I will focus my work on is, I think it is very important to reimburse oncology drugs, it is unacceptable for us as a European country. I think it also matches the vision of the Prime Minister. The key is also the reorganization of the diagnostic service, a hospital cannot be overloaded with patients who can be diagnosed in a few minutes.
Albanians are creative, so there is no reason not to use the resources we have. Digitalization is also of great interest to me because it is needed for the introduction of artificial intelligence that helps in the smooth running of healthcare. Several teams will be created that are definitely needed in state hospitals, it is not that they do not have medical skills and if they do not have skills, we will train them.
"We will also stop the flow of new doctors. Our medical university produces very good doctors and there is no reason why our young doctors who have passed their exams here should go and work abroad," said the new health minister.
