The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, commented on the arrest of four young Albanians in Belgrade during a press conference from the Blue House.
Berisha demanded a reaction from the international community and warned of protests in front of the Serbian embassy if the young men are not released.
He considered this intervention a violation of rights and compared the Serbian president to authoritarian figures.
Berisha stressed that those arrested had committed no other actions than expressing their opinions on social media. He added that the opposition would react with protests if the Serbian authorities did not change their stance.
"First of all, I want to strongly condemn the arrest of 4 young Albanians in Belgrade on the orders of Vučić, the head of the Belgrade criminal organization. They were arrested for the sole reason that one of them posted an Albanian flag with the portraits of Ismail Qermal and Isa Boaletini on social networks. According to Belgrade, he said inappropriate words about Serbia. This ugly act equates Vučić with Kim Jong Un and the ayatollahs and shows racism and hatred towards Albanians. I strongly condemn this ugly act and demand the immediate release of the young Albanians, as I call on the Albanian community to condemn this act that exceeds all limits. I also condemn the silence of Vučić's employee in Tirana, Rama, towards the act of his boss. The four fans have not committed any act except for posting a status with a flag on social networks and expressing their opinions about Serbia, opinions that according to Vučić are forbidden. "to be said within Serbian territory. This is unique in the world. I call for their release or else the opposition will undertake strong protests in front of the Belgrade representative office in Tirana ," he said.
