MP Enkelejd Alibeaj commented on the protest held yesterday by what he calls 'a segment of the opposition'. Since he is no longer part of the DP, Alibeaj said that the massiveness of the 2019 protests was many times higher than yesterday's protest by Sali Berisha's Democratic Party.
He said that this segment of the opposition has been abandoned by the citizens.
"The protest was to test the size in public and after this protest it can be said that the public has abandoned it. The majority of Albanians abandoned Edi Rama, as he received 48% in 2021, so it was not a majority. Now the issue is why this segment of the opposition is not supported by the Albanians? "To be fair to the Albanians, I can say that this is how they chose it and let them continue like this," said Alibeaj to "News24".
He stated that this opposition segment does not represent the majority of Albanians.
"I lost the elections in Kukës, I am not including Himara because there is a shadow of doubt, a loss in the 2023 elections, so they no longer represent the Albanians who do not want the government of Edi Rama. And the painful proof was yesterday's protest", said Alibeaj.
The MP said that PD is in the hands of one man, they claim to be united and they are not the divisions they were said to be, but this is an outdated model.
"We cannot have the model of the One, that the plight of the One is the plight of the people, these are outdated models", said Alibeaj, adding that the PD is isolated internationally, although it was created by the West.
Alibeaj said that there is no way that the DP has aimed its guns at the new justice.
"Despite the problems that justice has, PD had to support SPAK and GJKKO, since a justice that strikes from the government should be seen as allies", said Alibeaj.
