The deputy of the Democratic Party, Enkelejd Alibeaj, spoke about the race for the new chairman of the Democratic Party, which will take place on July 29.
In a statement to the media, Alibeaj said that he expects and hopes that the elections will be transparent and that the votes will not be manipulated.
Asked if Lulzim Basha has the right to run for the head of the party, Alibeaj said that according to him, anyone has the right to run.
"I have said for a long time that anyone has the right to run. Will we have a fair and transparent process, this is the challenge. This is not a race between Gjergj Hani or Lulzim Basha, the challenge is how long the process will be transparent, how much space will be given to the democrats", Alibeaj said.
He was then asked why he did not run against Basha, Alibeaj said that his challenge was successful as he kept PD alive.
"I have made it known and in my resignation statement, I am very serious about my duties in the DP. I can say with my full mouth that my challenge has been very successful, as long as we had a war on two sides, the challenge was so that the PD came out alive, and had conscience, changed in mentality and able to see the mistakes in the eyes", he said.
