The "Beleri issue" collided in the Euronews Albania studio with Democratic Party deputy Luan Baçi and journalist Panajot Barka.
Barka said in his speech that Beleri is being attacked by Prime Minister Rama because he is a minority, while the DP deputy emphasized that Beleri is not being attacked but the opposition.
Baçi described Beler as a candidate of the opposition and not of the minority and said that Rama is doing the same thing he did in other municipalities, where he manipulated the elections.
But this was not the view of the journalist, who said that if the opposition wanted the release of Beler, it would be in the square on August 14 in Himare, when a protest was also held for him.
Panajot Barka: What I want to say first is that Beleri is a PBDNJ candidate, a Greek minority candidate.
I do not agree with Mr. Baçi when he says that Beleri belongs to the opposition and this is being done to attack the opposition. No, it is because he is a minority.
Luan Baçi: Mr. Barka also has his own candidate Rama in the minority, Jorgo Goro is in the minority. If it was a fight for minorities then it wouldn't put up a minority candidate. Do not look at it in this prism that it is wrong. I would like the official Athens, as a country of the European Union, to raise this problem and for many other municipalities that have unfair and stolen elections. Even more so for Himara where it has its own representative.
Barka: The fact is that when a rally was held on August 14 to defend Beleri, the opposition was absent. If they wanted his release, Berisha and Meta would be there.
Baçi: Wrong, he was the Secretary for electoral issues, Mr. Ivi Kaso was there. She was the head of the branch
Barka: Mr. Kaso was introduced as the son of Himara and not as a representative of the DP.
Baçi: Yes, Mitsotakis had not come there for Berisha to come. They were the members of the Municipal Council, the Secretary for Electoral Affairs, the head of the Himara Branch. So there was a very high representation from the opposition, as Beleri was a candidate of the opposition and not of the minority.
