While the prime minister tries to present himself as an ally of the Trump family in the face of protests and European pressure, Washington, Kushner, and Ivanka have so far chosen the strongest weapon: silence!
For a week since the large protests in Tirana began, which according to their organizers and supporters enjoy considerable international support, Edi Rama has been trying to confront them by showing that he stands on the side of the Trump family and that Zvërnec's project will be realized.
In recent interviews with Reuters and Al Jazeera, Rama has spoken about his relationship with Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump.
A clear move to show that, even though he is under pressure from important European circles, American Democrats, and the media close to them, he continues to hope that the Trumpists will land to save him from the major political crisis he is facing.
But so far, neither the US administration, nor MAGA circles, nor those closest to Donald Trump have given any public signal of support for the Albanian prime minister.
In fact, the American Embassy in Tirana, unlike many other cases in the past, has not issued any security warnings regarding the protests against Edi Rama.
On the other hand, neither Jared Kushner nor Ivanka Trump have made any public statements, even though their names have been constantly mentioned in Albanian and international media.
What does this silence mean?
And what is the political signal it conveys?
There are several layers to this silence.
The first is related to the interests and business logic of the Trump family, an organization with considerable economic weight and international reputation.
A statement, even minimal, from the Kushner-Trump family communications office would have been immediately picked up by media outlets around the world.
But this did not happen.
A spokesperson for the family of Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump, who usually react when their names become part of public debates, could have spoken.
The State Department could have spoken.
The American Embassy in Tirana could have also reacted, if there had been such an orientation from Washington.
But nothing happened.
This seems to indicate that they do not want to be part of a debate that, ultimately, would mainly serve Edi Rama.
If at some point they decide to publicly support the Zvërnec project or related investments, they will likely do so cautiously and without political fanfare.
Because they don't want the Albanian prime minister to use this as proof that he is "Trump's man" and as a shield to extend his stay in power.
They know the Albanian political reality well.
In fact, the American administration has detailed information about how the government functions in Albania and its relations with economic and political interests.
For this very reason, silence can be more meaningful than any statement.
It is not even excluded that, in all this international turmoil, the Trump administration will also have its weight in the developments that are taking place.
And perhaps, at the moment it deems it necessary, it will also deliver its political blow.

Ahh, barin e kishim gati qe ne kohe te xhaxhit. Thjesht duhet ta korrim qe ta hame. Analize leshi. Ketu investon privati, cfare pret nga departamenti i shtetit. Kur te vije ambasadorini ri qe kapriotitet investimet do kesh dhe sqarimet e nevojshme.
Investime strategjike te jan nje brime e zeze jasht cdo arsyetimi ligjor sidomos kur i ve ne doren a nje eprsoni te vetem. Ne rastin konkret investimi ne Sazan dhe lagune nuk ka asgje strategjike dhe do sjelli humbjen te konsiderueshme per vendin dhe ne nje kohe te gjate. Shitja e tokes sic eshte perfolur nuk mund te kryhej ne rruget ligjore sepse do te kundershtohej nga pronaret aktual. Ajo eshte nji shitje nen dore fiktive per mbeshtetje ne sferat e errta to shoqerise ku jeton KM. Ndersa ishulli nuk mund te ndrroje pronare se eshte i kombit dhe jo i shtetit. NUK eshte loder dhe per kete KM rrezikon shum shtrenjt deri ne tradheti kombetare.
