Prime Minister Edi Rama has once again commented on the protests against the planned investment in Zvërnec, stating that some of the participants were influenced by external factors and interests.
During the speech held in Fier, at the event for the 35th anniversary of the founding of the Socialist Party in this branch, Rama said that Albania has returned to the center of attention of various international actors and that this, according to him, is also being reflected in the debate accompanying the protests.
"What is happening with Albania today and why Albania is being used so massively in countries and by people who have no pain for the flamingos of Zvërnec, but that Albania today is at the epicenter of a series of clashes," Rama said.
The head of government emphasized that he does not consider the protesters to be directly incited by foreign actors, but added that some of them have been influenced by narratives and interests operating behind the scenes.
"I'm not saying that the people who go out there are agents, spies or infiltrators from dark forces, but there are a number of people there who have fallen prey to all these things," the prime minister declared.
Following his speech, Rama also made a comparison with the past, recalling the period when, according to him, Albania was a destination for illegal hunting of animals and birds.
"Albania was a place where hunting tourism took place. Just like trafficking, there was a whole system to bring tourists in pairs. It was the tourism of illegal killing of animals and birds in Albania," he said.
Rama's statements come at a time when protests against the project in Zvërnec have entered their tenth day and have attracted widespread attention at home and abroad.
