Prime Minister Edi Rama spoke today in an emergency press conference about the situation between Kosovo and Serbia after the clashes in the north.
He said that it is an alarming situation in the north of Kosovo and for this reason he has handed over the document for the formation of the association to President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholtz, considering it as the Gordian knot between Kosovo and Serbia.
He emphasized that from this situation the most lost is Kosovo.
"The big loser is Kosovo, Serbia is doing what it has done before. Kosovo is doing something that it has never done before and it is being blamed by all the strategic agencies of the Albanian nation. In the conditions when relations are taking on more and more alternative tones, and I hope it doesn't happen, she will be sanctioned for her attitude. I am here to share a little known fact
I have known for a long time that the Gordian knot of the dialogue would be the association, and my conviction is that none of the parties wants it and will do whatever it takes to push it to infinity by keeping the crisis open. I believe every day more and more that its creation is the key to opening the door to the international affirmation of the Republic of Kosovo, recognition by all and its placement in international forums and recognition with Serbia.
Yesterday I forwarded to Macron and Scholz a draft of the association, it is a draft worked on by top-level American and European experts for a long time, which was done just in case this day would come, when the parties, and in this case for me, irreversible is the position of Kosovo, the parties are not even agreeing on who should write this text. This is a confidential document that does not claim to be the ideal solution, but it is a document of the highest international level that takes into consideration all the reasons for creating the association." said Rama.
