The head of the LZHK, Dashamir Shehi, has harshly criticized the government for the way it is managing the European Union integration process, describing the situation as a profound institutional failure.
In his statements, Shehi questioned the very functioning of the Albanian state. "We do not have a state... the Albanian state must be rebuilt here," he said, comparing Albania to Eastern European countries that, according to him, had functional institutions.
Shehi emphasized that EU integration should not be seen only as an economic benefit, but as a process for building institutions and strengthening the rule of law.
He directly accused Prime Minister Rama of his way of governing. "The state has come into his hands and has made it more corrupt than the one he curses," Shehi declared, adding that the lack of control has favored corruption and abuse of public funds.
According to him, EU membership would bring more standards and control over institutions. “If we had been in Europe… they wouldn’t have allowed so much theft,” Shehi said.
Shehi described the integration process as an unfulfilled promise for citizens. "Europe has remained a mirage... like all mirages, it passes away," said the head of the LZHK, criticizing the government's focus on propaganda instead of concrete reforms.
He raised concerns about the lack of equality before the law and stressed that without building a functional state and respecting the rules, integration into the European Union remains unattainable.
"He is not equal before the law... those who are with Edi Rama make their careers," Shehi declared.
