The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has called on citizens to participate in the April 17 protest, which he described as a decisive moment in the face of the government.
During the speech held at the "Pulpit" in front of the Prime Minister's Office, Berisha declared that this date will mark a strong citizen reaction to the current government.
"April 17 is a day for Albanians, it is the day of the greatest peaceful uprising in the history of the country," he said.
He stressed that the protest aims to send a clear political message. "The 17th will be the big lesson that will be given to this regime," Berisha declared.
The leader of the Democratic Party expressed his conviction that the political battle will continue until change occurs. "We will continue our battle until certain victory," he said.
In his speech, Berisha accused the government of misgovernance and the exodus of young people from the country. "Albanians will never accept a regime that steals and plunders them day and night," he said.
He added that the economic and social situation is forcing young people to leave. "It has made Albania a country that drives young people out onto the streets of the world... it doesn't offer them jobs, it doesn't offer them a future," Berisha declared.
Berisha also linked the protest to the European integration process. "We will continue our battle to open the path to EU integration," he said, adding that "no one opens the door for you when you come in like a thief," Berisha concluded.
