Albanian-American activist, Evi Kokalari, has harshened her tone towards former Prime Minister Berisha and his son, Shkëlzen Berisha.
Through a reaction on social media, Kokalari warned that any obstacle to her candidacy for the leadership of the Democratic Party will have serious consequences. She emphasizes that the Berisha family is in the attention of American institutions.
"Rejection, ignoring or obstacles to my candidacy... will definitively seal the corruption file of Shkëlzen Berisha and Sali Berisha in the State Department ," Kokalari wrote on social media.
Kokalari accuses the Berisha family of damaging democracy in the country.
"Every act taken by them against me clearly speaks of the destruction that these two have caused to democracy in Albania ," she declared.
She also cast doubt on the potential impact on the US, stressing that any efforts at support will have no effect.
"Whoever they think they bought from in the US... won't be able to help them," Kokalari said.
According to her, relations have deteriorated following issues that she linked to previous political and economic decisions.
"They lost that chance... when they sacrificed my reputation for the affairs and deals they had to make," Kokalari said.
She emphasized that she has not yet received a response from the Berisha family regarding her positions.
"Today is April 6th and I still have no response from the Berisha family. Never interrupt your opponent when he is making a mistake ," Kokalari concluded.
