Prime Minister Edi Rama held an informal meeting today in Durrës with the heads of municipalities, where he discussed the performance of local government.
Rama paid attention to illegal construction during his speech, while criticizing the IMT and the Municipal Police, emphasizing that they are problematic structures.
"Construction without a permit in Albania is a criminal offense. Construction without a permit in a protected area is an even more serious criminal offense. IKMT has started to operate, but it must be said that whether in Theth, Vlora or other territories, the great weakness of IMT, even the municipal police, problematic structures, to the point that with rare exceptions they are not a solution.
"Necessary for an intervention in territorial reform, which should include IMT, municipal police, IKMT, urban planning offices. Time to synthesize these structures and create more services for municipalities," he said.
