French President Emmanuel Macron will be in Tirana in May, on his second official visit to Albania, joining the European Political Community Summit, which will be held on May 16.
This was announced by Igli Hasani, head of Albanian diplomacy, during the meeting with the French Minister Delegate for Europe, Benjamin Haddad, who has begun a two-day visit to Albania.
During the meeting, both sides underlined the joint commitment to European integration, the intensification of economic cooperation and the preservation of regional stability. According to Minister Hasani, Haddad's visit is a reflection of the special, healthy and multidimensional relations built between Albania and friendly France.
Within the framework of Albania's European journey, Hasani particularly appreciated France's serious commitment to EU institutions, which has been key to ensuring a fair and transparent process of membership negotiations.
"France's unwavering support for our European path is invaluable and we are sincerely grateful for this support, which strengthens our shared vision for a united and prosperous Europe."
"We very much hope to continue to have this support, especially for the holding of the Fourth Intergovernmental Conference, which we hope will take place in the coming days, as well as for the opening of the remaining chapters within 2025 until we achieve our crystal-clear objective: the conclusion of negotiations by the end of 2027," said Hasani.
Hasani considered the summit to be organized in Tirana on May 16, 2025, to be a historic one.
"Albania has the privilege and honor to host this important event, which aims to promote cooperation and dialogue between European states on common challenges, including security and stability. France's key role in the establishment of the European Political Community is extraordinary, and we will do our utmost to advance its objectives during the Tirana summit," said Hasani.
President Macron visited Albania for the first time on an official visit on October 16, 2023.
