Western leaders will come to the capital, from EC President Usula Von Der Leyen to European Council President Charles Michel, German Chancellor Scholz, whose country initiated the Berlin Process, and French President Macron.
Advisor to the Prime Minister Odeta Barbullushi revealed in an interview for "Report TV" that the Western friends who will be among the guests of the summit, among whom Albin Kurti will arrive for the first time after cooling off with Prime Minister Rama, while Serbia will be represented by Prime Minister Anna Brabič.
"We will have the participation of all the leaders of the region, including the leaders of the EU member states that have been members of the Berlin process since 2014, including Italy, Austria, Poland, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Croatia and recently Greece, as well as the United Kingdom and for the first time the leaders of countries bordering our region", she said.
Two will be the most important moments of the discussions: Expansion and the geopolitical situation, including the tension within the region, that between Kosovo and Serbia.
"The first moment is the geo-political one of European security in the context of the war in Ukraine and in the context of some key moments related to the expansion. And that's why the discussion between the leaders will take place in this new context, the second moment is also the one that is going through the region of tension between Kosovo and Serbia, and therefore for us it is of great importance to sit the leaders of the region in this discussion. There will be a discussion during lunch by the leaders about the state of bilateral relations and all the countries of the region", said Barbullushi.
2 days before the summit, Barbullushi also reveals the agreements that are expected to be approved, which will advance what the Prime Minister's adviser calls economic convergence between the Western Balkans and the European Union.
"The headline of this summit for us was one of the dimensions of the Berlin process that we felt we neglected a little, or without the proper attention, which is precisely the improvement of economic convergence between the Western Balkans and the European Union. In this context, as well as based on the spirit of the proposal of a new plan for the growth of the Western Balkans, launched by EC President Ursula Von Der Leyen, a few months ago, we will discuss some concrete proposals that will aim bring the Western Balkans closer to the EU and mainly to the common market. This is a discussion that has been going on for months both among the countries of the Western Balkans and among the EU countries.
On our part, playing a very active role, we have proposed several initiatives, for example in the field of trade and transport facilitation, not only between us, but already with EU border countries, moving towards the full implementation of what we have called the green corridors, trade and transport, or going towards integrated border crossing points, which in fact we want to see as a first step towards the customs policy with the European Union. Other initiatives include the agreement on the recognition of professional qualifications, there are 4 new professions that are added to the professions of the agreement signed in December in Berlin, and this is another step in the direction of improving labor mobility between the countries of Western Balkans. Another initiative is a request from the BP countries for inclusion in similar programs as Europe has had, a "WiFi for Western Balkans" unification of coverage, policies towards fees for Wifi as well as another initiative for the inclusion of the Western Balkans in the space European bank payments or electronic payments", said Barbullushi.
