The President of the Republic, Bajram Begaj, participated in the Second UN World Summit for Social Development in Doha, Qatar.
This summit brought together world leaders with the aim of taking action and fulfilling obligations for social development and avoiding social inequality.
The World Social Summit in Doha is an opportunity for our country to reaffirm its commitment to social justice and sustainable development, deepen international partnerships, and promote reforms and achievements in the field of social inclusion.
Describing the Doha Summit as a call to action for a new era of social justice and solidarity, President Begaj said during his speech that Albania, as a country on a dynamic path towards membership in the European Union, values it as an important platform to align national social policies with international standards.
Referring to the National Strategy for Development and Integration of Albania, President Begaj emphasized the aim of aligning national development with European integration, ensuring better governance and an improved quality of life for all citizens.
"We have reformed our health, education, employment and welfare systems to ensure access and justice for all. The digitalization of public services has made state institutions more transparent and accessible to our citizens," declared the President of the Republic.
The Head of State stated that the UN has recognized Albania's strong commitment to promoting gender equality and social inclusion as part of our social protection strategy.
“However, we know that progress should never be taken for granted. As we face digital, demographic and environmental transitions, social protection systems must evolve and adapt to new realities. Social development today cannot be separated from the major transitions of our time, such as digital, demographic and environmental ones. We must bridge the digital divide, empower rural communities and make social systems resilient to climate impacts. Let us work together to transform this summit into a turning point to place humanity at the heart of development”, said Bajram Begaj.
