DP leader Sali Berisha is holding a meeting with allies today to find a common agreement on electoral and territorial reform, while the situation in the blue headquarters has been disturbed by Ervin Salijanj's speeches.
The Chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, gathered the allies of the Opposition Federation in a meeting today.
Berisha said that the country is living in a true dictatorship like in Venezuela, where drug cartels linked to the government hold power.
"Some secret services say that the beneficiary of the drug cartels is Edi Rama himself," Berisha said.
This meeting between Berisha and his allies is being held to find a common agreement on electoral and territorial reform.
But none of the main allies joined the meeting. Fatmir Mediu is outside Albania and has sent the municipal councilor to the meeting, while Tedi Blushi has sent MP Burnilda Hoxha, while Agron Duka is also absent.
The meeting was also joined by MPs from both committees.
"If we talk about both reforms today, they will address two major aspects: the issue of elections and that of local government. The May 11 elections have already received the definitive stamp in the ODIHR report, being considered among the worst elections ever held in Albania. It is a report that is only comparable to the 2001 report. The state has invaded the elections; the Socialist Party has become a party-state, the separation between the state and the party has been broken, and consequently the playing field is uneven, making the electoral process unfair. The elections are not even free due to pressure, the involvement of crime, vote buying and other factors.
On the other hand, the territorial reform has its problems. After 10 years, there is no decentralization, the functioning of local government has suffered precisely because of this reform. So, an open discussion, setting clear priorities and a common strategy to approach this issue in a transparent and comprehensive manner is the goal of the parties. I believe that this first roundtable paves the way for a more complete discussion, so that the experts and deputies in the two committees have a clear mandate," said Berisha.
Meanwhile, after consecutive electoral losses for the DP, former MP Ervin Salianji and doctor Ilir Alimehmeti have joined forces for a change in the party.
Salianji, accompanied by one of the most voted candidates for the Tirana list, Ilir Alimehmeti, held a meeting with Democrats from the city of Durrës on Wednesday, where they spoke about the Democrats' need to be heard by the party leaders.
But for these moves, Berisha accused Salinj of a "personal and private agenda," while also making accusations against other participants in the Durres meeting.
"There was a group of dissatisfied people there. There were others who worked for the SP and they are afraid that they will get out," Berisha told reporters./Pamphlet
