A preliminary hearing will be held today at the Criminal Court of Kosovo (GJKKO) for the case of Ilir Meta, Monika Kryemadhi and three others. It is expected to be seen whether or not the case will go to trial or be returned for further investigation.
The previous session, where the leader of the Freedom Party himself was present, was postponed after he requested to be familiarized with some of the acts, claiming that only the request to send the case to court was made available to him.
His lawyer, Kujtim Cakrani, said that Meta will be present at every court session, while two days ago, like Veliaj, the leader of the PL requested that he not stand in the cage in the courtroom, considering it a violation of constitutional and human rights. In fact, in the request filed with the GJKKO, it was stated that if this request was not taken into account, they would not participate in the sessions.
SPAK closed the investigations on July 28, while the file was sent for trial at the end of August, which included three investigations into a CEZ-DIA affair, LSI lobbying in the US and a property investigation. Meta and Kryemadhi are accused of passive corruption, money laundering and failure to declare assets. Pirro Xhixho is accused of passive corruption of high-ranking officials committed in collaboration, while Fatime Kryemadhi is accused of money laundering, together with Ema Çoku. Meta has been in prison since October 2024, while Kryemadhi is under obligation to appear.
