Today, Prime Minister Edi Rama is holding a meeting with Albanians in Thessaloniki, as part of the diaspora tour.
From this meeting, the prime minister made a reaction to the scandal at the border where the Greek authorities held Albanian journalists hostage for 3 hours, taking their passports and denying them entry.
Rama thanked the Greek Foreign Minister, Giorgos Gerapetritis, for intervening and resolving the situation while adding that such a thing has never happened to any journalist from Greece and will never happen to him.
I want to express my regret to all the journalists who came yesterday from Albania to follow the meeting today, who were blocked for several hours at the border for reasons unknown to us, but I want to thank the Greek foreign minister for his intervention and unblocking an absurd situation that has never happened for any reason at the border entering Albania', said Rama.
Likewise, the prime minister announced that he will officially address the Greek state with a request to remove the "non grata" status of journalist Marin Mema.
"For reasons unknown to us. I want to thank the Greek Foreign Minister for his intervention. And for unlocking an absurd situation that has never happened to any Greek journalist at the entry border of Albania. Since we are talking about journalists and freedom of information... I want to believe that the Greek Foreign Minister, the Greek government itself, will respond with healthy European logic to the request that we will start tomorrow to lift the decision made on banned the journalist Marin Mema from entering Greece..." declared Rama, among other things.
We recall that the saga of the Greek "hostage" of the Albanian media in Kapshtica ended around 5:10 p.m., when the Greek customs officials returned the stamped passports to the journalists and operators, so that they could continue their journey to Thessaloniki to broadcast the meeting that Prime Minister Edi Rama will to take place tomorrow at Porto Palace Hotel with compatriots.
