The Socialists and Speaker of the Parliament Lindita Nikolla appeared in the Assembly about 2 hours ago, while today a session is to be held for the approval of SPAK's request, which requires the removal of Berisha's immunity for his arrest.
Berisha has warned of protest and blocking of the plenary session, and for this reason they went to the plenary hall earlier.
The Assembly is expected to vote today on the removal of Sali Berisha's immunity after the Mandates Council approved SPAK's request for authorization to arrest the former prime minister and the Constitutional Court rejected the request signed by 30 opposition MPs for the suspension of measures against him.
Then it will be the Special Prosecutor's Office that will decide what coercive measures will be required for Berisha, house arrest or prison arrest, who is under investigation for the "Partizani" affair.
A day before, the two reports compiled by the members of the Council of Mandates were also filed in the Assembly.
Both reports, both of the majority and the opposition, recommend to the Assembly the granting of authorization to the request of the Special Prosecutor's Office, which requires the removal of Sali Berisha's immunity and his subsequent arrest. Both SP and PD argue that the accusations against Berisha are not political.
On the other hand, while the Assembly is expected to vote on the removal of the former prime minister's immunity, the opposition has warned of a protest. Under the motto "Today, never", Berisha emphasized that this protest, which is scheduled to start at 09:30, will be held as the government is taking unconstitutional decisions.
We remind you that SPAK addressed the Assembly with the request for granting the authorization to tighten the measure against Sali Berisha in his arrest, on December 12, after the former prime minister did not respect the first measure, that of the obligation to appear.
