Ervin Salianji, who was rejected as a candidate for the leadership of the Democratic Party of Albania, has reacted harshly towards Sali Berisha and his circle who lead the largest opposition party.
Salianji considers the way Berisha is treating the Democratic Party to be a miserable standard, and even emphasizes that the former Prime Minister has lost his manhood.
" Berisha is worn out, isolated, investigated, unable to unite the opposition. We cannot talk about change in Albania, while rejecting change in the DP. We cannot ask for the votes of Albanians like this ," Salianji emphasizes in his reaction.
The former MP, who Berisha says has self-excluded himself from the DP, states that "Sali and his entourage abuse the loyalty and values of the democrats, putting them under moral pressure: to remain silent "out of respect for their age", to remain silent in the face of "the honors they have been given", to remain silent before the dissolution of the DP due to their connection to it".
In his reaction, Salianji states that the Democratic Party cannot be an individual party, as it is the property of the Democrats and the hope of thousands of Albanians who have been waiting for the rotation for years.

The Blue Seat has not given any reason why Salianji is not allowed to run, beyond public statements by Sali Berisha and Flamur Noka that he is a self-excluded person from the DP, after he crossed red lines by collaborating with criminal elements, who have filled the halls in the meetings he initiated at the party base with the Democrats.
What Berisha seems not to have forgiven Salianji, who was imprisoned on defamation charges in the "Babalja" case, are the developments on January 8, 2022, when the Democrats clashed violently among themselves, one side defending the DP headquarters and the other aiming to take it. At that time, Salianji was among those defending the headquarters, while Berisha led a crowd aiming to take it.

The miserable standard of how Berisha is treating the Democratic Party expresses a profound lack of historical responsibility for the sacrifices of the Democrats who have been in opposition for 13 years.

Even the most die-hard democrats know that with Sali Berisha and this leadership, they will never win.
Every day that he remains at the head of the Democratic Party of Albania is a loss for the opposition and for Albania.
Time only works for change. Sali Berisha can never represent it.
He is worn out, isolated, investigated, unable to unite the opposition.
We cannot talk about change in Albania by rejecting change in the DP. We cannot ask for the votes of Albanians like this.
The Democratic Party can never be strong without competition, without representation, without accountability.
Any attempt to avoid these weakens the Democratic Party and distances it from the citizens.
The Democratic Party cannot be a party of individuals, it does not deserve to be! It must return to a party of the masses and power. It is the property of the Democrats and the hope of thousands of Albanians who have been waiting for the rotation for years!
The DP does not deserve to be extinguished because of its leader.
