Democratic Party MP, Jorida Tabaku, held a meeting this morning with around 50 representatives of German businesses, in an event organized by the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, as part of their visit to Albania to review investment opportunities.

During the conversation, Tabaku presented the country's economic potential, but at the same time highlighted the limitations of the current economic model, which according to her is not guaranteeing sustainable development and is not attracting quality investments.

"Albania cannot continue with this economic model. We must move towards another model, a model that produces value, that supports industry and that attracts productive investments, which are lacking today," she said.

She emphasized that integration into the European Union remains a strategic objective for the country, but according to her, this process cannot be realized without a functional and competitive economy.

"There is no European integration with an economy that does not produce. There is no development with investments that do not create value. Albania must attract investments that build industries, that create well-paid jobs and that are connected to European supply chains," Tabaku stressed.

The MP invited German entrepreneurs to see Albania as a destination for long-term investments, especially in strategic sectors such as energy, data centers, processing industry and advanced technologies, underlining the country's potential to integrate into European supply chains.

"Albania has a strategic position. But this potential is not exploited on its own. We need an economic policy that supports it and does not hinder it," she said.

Along the same lines, Tabaku noted that the lack of productive investments is related to the business climate and legal uncertainty, emphasizing that an investment structure oriented towards real estate currently dominates.

"Today we have more investments related to real estate and less investments in manufacturing and industry. This is a signal that the model is not working," she stressed.

The meeting was also attended by Joachim Pfeiffer, former Bundestag member and former spokesman for economics and energy for the CDU/CSU group, a well-known figure on the German conservative spectrum.

In conclusion, Tabaku underlined the need for a clear change in economic course, emphasizing the importance of foreign investment as a key factor for development.

"We must move from an economy that consumes, to an economy that produces. From an economy that rewards privilege, to an economy that rewards honest work and investment, " she concluded.
