The Democratic Party candidate in the Tirana District, Jorida Tabaku, said that she deserved to be on the closed list, not the open list, in the May 11 elections.
She said in the Quo Vadis studio on Vizion Plus that she had had a long discussion with opposition leader Sali Berisha, and that she knew that she would be on the open list, it was not a surprise to her.
The Democratic candidate also cast doubt that all of this could be a political strategy, emphasizing that she was the most voted for in the primary and this would bring more votes to the opposition.
Tabaku declared in Quo Vadis that he would not change the Democratic Party for any other political direction.
Borakaj: Did you expect to be on the open list when you received the most votes in the primary?
Tabaku: I think I deserved to be on the closed lists, both for the profile I have, for the votes in the primaries, and for my performance in the opposition. The fact that I am on the open lists is bringing out another fighting side of me, that not many people have seen. I have worked the same in the campaign, both on the open list and on the closed list. Anyone who is in the DP knows how I work.
Borakaj: What penalized you?
Tabaku: I wasn't penalized for anything. It could also have been an electoral strategy. Maybe I could be a person who attracts votes.
Borakaj: Did they give you an explanation?
Tabaku: We had a long discussion with Mr. Berisha. I knew this before it happened. It was no surprise to me.
Borakaj: Do you think that if you had supported Berisha from the beginning, you would have been on the closed list?
Tabaku: It has no connection. It has no connection with commitment either. I do not believe that this is the Democratic Party. The DP is my only choice, I will not change it. A political force needs everyone. There is room for everyone in the DP.
