The Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Enea Karakaçi, declared today during a press conference that the road being built near the Rinas overpass, on the Tirana-Durres highway, will not be tolled.
He explained that all investments financed from the state budget do not provide for payment for citizens who use the constructed road axes.
Karakaçi emphasized that works on the highway are continuing, while announcing that the existing Rinas overpass will be demolished and a new four-lane overpass will be built in its place, with the aim of easing the heavy traffic on this segment.
"We opened the lanes towards Rinas and towards Tirana when coming from Durrës, which were the first 6 km. Of course, the funnel is created again, for every citizen and for me who passes on that road, but I can emphasize that the traffic is very different. We had a problem with an overpass that forced us to narrow it somewhat, on the road leading to Rinas, which was fixed with the immediate intervention of the ARRSH, by releasing it, because the traffic on the way out is already blocked there. The other thing we know is that there is a funnel that is created on the Rinas overpass, what I can tell you is that we have the contract in force and it is being implemented and every citizen who passes there can see the continuation of the works after the Rinas overpass. Part of this contract is the demolition of the Rinas overpass, the creation of a new overpass with 4 lanes, and the continuation of the additional lanes that are being worked on and this will give it a greater relief. traffic in Tirana-Durrës," he said.
Asked if the road will be tolled, the minister replied:
"Regarding the issue you refer to, paid or free, as long as all this funding is being done from the state budget, it will definitely be free."
