Former Democratic Party MP, Myslim Murrizi, has commented on the perspective of Albania's integration into the European Union.

Murrizi expressed skepticism about the pace of the integration process, emphasizing that other countries in the region have advanced faster than Albania in negotiations with the EU.

" Montenegro has opened chapters on EU integration long before us. I don't see that Europe will close its eyes so much to let us into Europe ," he declared.

According to the former democratic MP, the European Union is facing major demographic and migration challenges, which, according to him, makes the issue of enlargement in the Western Balkans even more sensitive.

" While statistics show that about 30 million Africans go to Europe, we are only 20 million inhabitants in our region in the Western Balkans ," said Murrizi, invited to the show "This Week" on News24.
