Former MP Lefter Maliqi has requested that the Central Election Commission make an urgent decision on the issue of the mandate of the mayor of Kuçova, Kreshnik Hajdari, claiming that the process has been dragging on for nearly three years.
In a statement to the media from the CEC premises, Maliqi said that the decision of the Board of Appeals and Sanctions (KAS), taken by a unanimous vote of 5 to 0, as well as the decision of the Supreme Court requesting an urgent review of the case, have not yet been implemented.
According to him, the postponement of the process is being done with the aim of allowing the mayor's mandate to end without a final decision being made. Maliqi accused political and economic interests of interfering in the process, while declaring that he will continue the legal and political battle until the issue is fully clarified.
The former MP also said that he has filed other reports with SPAK and warned of further legal steps, demanding that institutions implement the decriminalization law and make a final decision on the case.
"I am today at the CEC to make a request for an urgent meeting to remove the mandate and invalidate the mandate of the convicted, accuser, incompetent, Kreshnik Hajdari as head of the Municipality of Robbed 2023 in the crime CEAZ 64. Yesterday, the CEC was supposed to make a decision at 11:00, but due to the absence of the CEC commissioner, it was postponed indefinitely. For this reason, I have come with the urgent request, because the KAS decision is 5 to 0 and the Supreme Court's decision is that it orders the CEC commissioner to make an urgent decision.
Imagine, it's been three years, while I've been making such requests, the famous Hajdari with lawyers, with lobbies, with oligarchs, with various politicians, is deliberately dragging out the complaints with words to end his mandate. He has done the same thing this time, he is also seeking security measures in the Administrative Court, while the Administrative Court has no power, because it has passed once to stop the CEC decision and finally the KAS decision.
Dear Albanians, you are watching this game of squash, this circus with the captured justice institutions and state institutions. That is why we are in a rotten state, that is why I have filed 11 reports, but this whole battle is a moral, political, media battle won together with the citizens of Kuçova for a free vote.
Meanwhile, we will take the legal battle to the end, because in 2027, together with your vote, we will overthrow the Hajdars, Hajdari and other Hajdars, whoever they are from the Rilindja candidates. So I will tell everyone that I have also filed other reports in SPAK, the oligarchy, politics, interference, taxes, construction firms, which are worried after the famous Hajdari, they interfere everywhere.
A SPAK prosecutor has taken three cases, the lawyers of the cases and is requesting their dismissal, but you are convinced that on July 1st, I will request the postponement of the investigations in the Special Court, and in the meantime, the appeal if necessary. So, there is no other way, there is no force that can stop us from the legal battle and to put Hajdari in handcuffs, who has abused your taxes, stolen and left Kuçova as in the Middle Ages, the last in Albania due to terrible abuses. We ask the CEC commissioner to meet urgently, to give a decision, despite the oligarchic and political interventions that can keep him in office.
It is the KAS that will decide and I will fight my battle. I want to know the truth about how far this issue goes, because based on the decriminalization law, no deputy or mayor who has lied on the decriminalization form for a final punishment measure inside or outside the country, regardless of the punishment measure, has all left the mandate or has not competed or has been expelled or dismissed from office.
The only case is the famous Hajdari supported by oligarchs, construction firms, expensive lawyers and politicians who seek to hold the free vote hostage with words, who, just as they robbed, as they donated the boxes in the criminal CEAZ 64, so they seek with corrupt interests, with citizens' taxes, with terrible abuses, to drag out this process. We will take the battle to the end. There is no force that can stop us.
Imagine, former director, former police chief, former prison chief, two-time member of the Albanian Parliament, local leader, when they do this to me, imagine what they do to ordinary citizens in the courts and district prosecutor's offices because of this rotten justice reform captured by this narco-state.
"That is why I strongly support the massive protest, the hurricane of citizens to overthrow this rotten state, these captured institutions, this captured justice and to pave the way for a European Albania, a state of law," Maliqi said in his speech for "Syri TV".
