PD MP, Saimir Korreshi, has stated that the party needs to open up and a new leader is needed at its head.
In an interview for Vizion Plus, Korreshi said that Basha, Berisha and Alibeaj had all the opportunities to bring DP to power but they did not succeed, so he asks them to remain ordinary MPs.
"Lulzim Basha, Berisha and Alibeaj can no longer run to lead the party. They had all the opportunity to lead the PD, but they did not succeed in leading the PD to victory. DP must be opened.
Within the parliamentary group, but not only, there are very good elements. They have to open their arms and it's not a bad thing to be only an MP. DP needs to go beyond each one of us", said Korreshi.
The democratic deputy further said that the two groups that have been created within the DP should meet and make an in-depth analysis of the situation in which they are.
"None have been handed over to Berisha. We have asked for the unification of the democrats, which must come through an inclusive process. The parliamentary group is the only institution that was elected with the votes of the Democrats in the 2021 elections that we were all together. I think the first major step is to unite the Democrats. We cannot start a process without understanding whether DP will join or not.
We cannot do a truncated analysis. We need to get together both groups of DP to see the reality of what happened. Apart from the stolen SP car, the division was also a reason for the loss. When DP enters divided or with two candidates, it always loses," said Korreshi.
