Lowering the price of energy by 1 lek, Tabaku: Reduce or remove VAT, this eases

The democratic deputy Jorida Tabaku considered the reduction of the price of energy by 1 lek a negligible measure.

Tabaku says that Albanian families are facing high living costs and a heavy fiscal burden, so even this decrease does not solve any problems for the citizens.

Tabaku argued with a video on the Facebook social network the state of the Electric Energy Distribution Operator (OSHE), describing it as a company with accumulated debts and arrears to public institutions. According to her, the claim that OSHE is a company with stable income is just a facade.

The deputy presented a concrete plan with three measures that would help citizens and reshape the energy sector:

1. Reduction or removal of VAT for electricity, a measure that would directly ease household bills.

2. Support for the most needy strata, to cope with the high cost of energy.

3. Diversification of energy resources and better management of the sector, to avoid clientelism and ineffective investments.

Tabaku emphasized that the government's measures are insufficient and not consulted with the real needs of the citizens. According to her, the solutions are simple, but require will and transparency.

" These are Eurostat data that show that in at least fifteen European countries, as well as in the region, the price of electricity has decreased. So when they tell you that we are the only country that has reduced the price of electricity, you are lying.

Just as they lie that the energy distribution operator OSHE, from a company with stable income, and therefore they are making these reductions a lie again, because it is a company that has debts from public institutions and their chains ", says Tabaku.
