VanHorn meets SPAK-BKH leaders and sends a strong message: We will confront drug

Klodjan Braho and Joni Keta receive the support of the Americans...

The United States of America has shaken up politics and especially the Albanian government. The action in Venezuela was seen as a message from Trump to many other authoritarian or drug-related leaders. In Albania, there was enthusiasm from the opposition and silence from the Albanian prime minister.

But the striking message came today. US Charge d'Affaires Nancy VanHorn went to SPAK today, where she met with the new heads of SPAK and BKH. She decided to speak in the words of Marco Rubio: "We will confront the drug cartels wherever they are."

Charge d’Affaires Nancy VanHorn congratulated SPAK’s Chief Special Prosecutor, Klodjan Braho, and BKH Head, Joni Keta, on their new leadership roles, reiterating the United States’ support for SPAK’s efforts in the fight against organized crime and narcotics trafficking. As Secretary Rubio has stated: ‘We will confront drug cartels wherever they are and wherever they operate against the interests of the United States. The President’s primary duty is to ensure the national interest and national security of our people. Together, we stand united in the fight against international crime ,’” the US embassy announced.

Both Klodjan Braho and Joni Keta are two figures who enjoy the support of the Americans. The embassy itself has closely followed their election and today VanHorn has given them support to continue the strikes just like in the Duman era.

But the message to the cartels is very strong. The embassy has often spoken about international crime and the first move was made a few months ago, when the Hysa brothers were sanctioned, as being linked to Sinaloa. They have had meetings with Rama.

Albania itself is being considered by many foreign media outlets as a narco-state, and the message today is clear that Americans do not tolerate anything that compromises their security. / Pamphlet
