Deputies of the Italian Democratic Party paid a visit to Gjadër in Lezha, to see the two immigrant camps up close.
Prime Minister Edi Rama and the Italian counterpart Georgia Meloni signed an agreement for immigrants, according to which these camps should have opened on May 20.
The works have not progressed as predicted and the camps cannot be ready before autumn. For this situation, opposition MPs demand an answer from Prime Minister Meloni.
“Do you understand what you are doing? You are violating human rights, you are spending a large amount of public money and, above all, you are not even able to realize what you have said", said the deputy.
The Italian deputies also said that in the area of Gjadri they saw 70 thousand square meters empty, and only a few bulldozers and trucks.
"Melon's attempt at an electoral advertisement with immigrants for the European elections failed miserably. We are facing more than 70 thousand empty square meters. The only thing that moves is the cost. We have now gone from the initial 653 million to over 800 million. We ask Prime Minister Meloni to give up this project and shift the resources towards strengthening the resources that will be allocated to the national health system", said the deputy.
On November 6, the Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, and his Italian counterpart, Giorgia Meloni, signed an agreement, according to which Italy will send to Albania the migrants who escape in the Mediterranean Sea, while Italy will finance the establishment of centers for their reception.
