Delay in publishing voter lists, CEC draws attention to municipalities: Take

The Head of the Central Election Commission, Ilirjan Celibashi, has distributed a message to the country's municipalities regarding the May 11 elections.

In the announcement, Celibashi states that municipalities must take measures to implement deadlines and legal requirements. From the monitoring conducted by the CEC in several municipalities, Celibashi underlines that delays have been observed in the posting of voter lists, while there are also difficulties in accessing voters with disabilities.

"Taking into consideration the obligations arising from the Electoral Code, regarding the publication of voter lists, written notification of voters and reporting on the location of voting centers (VCs), it is necessary for municipalities to take immediate measures to respect deadlines and legal requirements.

From the monitoring carried out by the CEC:
– Delays have been noted in the posting of voter lists in some municipalities.
– There are difficulties in accessing voters with disabilities.
– Information on the assignment of VCs and notification of voters has not yet been reported.

The voter notification process has not begun in most municipalities due to a lack of funds and a notification template, while the deadline for its completion is March 6, 2025.

"To address the above-mentioned issues, the CEC requests municipalities to:
Complete the reporting of the location of voting centers within the deadlines set in the Electoral Code.
It also requests the Ministry of Interior to facilitate the process of notifying voters to ensure that this process is carried out within the legal deadlines," the CEC announcement states.
