The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, at the meeting of the Democratic Party parliamentary group commented on the murder of judge Astrit Kalaja in the courtroom.
He directly accused the government and Prime Minister Edi Rama of creating a "narco-state" which, according to him, has paved the way for crime to interfere in the justice system.
"We are gathering today after the Albanian drug lord killed the judge in his office. When I say drug lord, of course I am clear that the one who killed him was not a state employee, but he could not have committed the act if the state were a state and not a drug lord."
I want to inform Albanians that with a decision dated 8.7.2020, Edi Rama has annulled the previous government decision dated 28.4.2010, which made the state police responsible for the protection and security of the courts. To this Koçiu washed his hands, saying that the police have no responsibility.
"His attacks on individual judges who make the law and dare to give decisions in accordance with the law are a great encouragement for crime," Berisha said.
