The American ambassador pressured Albin Kurti: Kosovo to postpone the decision

The American ambassador in Pristina, Jeffrey Hovenier, has repeated the request to the Government of Kosovo to postpone the decision to implement the regulation of the Central Bank of Kosovo (CBK).

He made these statements after a meeting he held with the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti. The CBK regulation provides that the only currency for making payments in Kosovo is the euro.

Thus, Kosovo Serbs are unable to use the dinar.

"We naturally support efforts to avoid financial crimes, money laundering, terrorist financing and the like, we have deep concerns about the way this regulation is implemented, as we believe it does not take into account some of the concerns of the communities," he said. he says.

Asked if the American Government can take action against Kosovo, if it does not respond to this request, Hovenier said that "we hope that the Government will be a partner with us", adding that if the opposite happens, this thing "will have an impact on the quality of our partnership".

Hovenier has said that although the United States welcomes Kosovo's decision to respect the country's Constitution, the US believes that there should be an educational period for the new regulation.

When asked about the Government's reaction to his request and the international factor, Hovenier said that "I will let them speak" in this regard.
