Serbia succeeds again in preventing the integration of Kosovo in international organizations...
Kosovo's membership in the Council of Europe is blocked. Although many countries have come out on the side of Pristina, it seems that the road will be very mountainous.
The Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe will meet on Friday, but according to the work agenda, the case of Kosovo has been left out.
The spokeswoman of the Council of Europe, Estelle Steiner, has confirmed for Kosovo media that Kosovo's application will not be discussed on Friday.
" Kosovo is now not on the agenda of the meeting of the Committee of Ministers ", said Steiner.
According to the agenda, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the 46 member countries of the Council of Europe will hold their annual session on May 17, 2024, within the framework of the Organization's 75th anniversary.
The agenda will include the measures that the Council of Europe is continuing to take in response to the Russian Federation's full-scale aggression against Ukraine, the implementation of the Reykjavik Declaration (adopted at the Summit of Heads of State and Government in 2023) and the adoption of a Framework Convention on Artificial Intelligence, Human Rights, Democracy and the Rule of Law.
According to the agenda, the ministers will also review the Organization's work in areas such as human rights, including social rights and children's rights, democracy, the rule of law, the fight against the death penalty, education and culture, participation of civil society and youth, human rights in the digital age, migration and human trafficking, protection of journalists and measures to combat disinformation, anti-discrimination and inclusion, gender equality and the environment.
They will also discuss cooperation between the Council of Europe and the European Union.
At the end of the ministerial session, Liechtenstein will hand over the presidency of the Committee of Ministers to Lithuania. So it seems that the Serbian lobby has succeeded this time in preventing Kosovo's membership in foreign organizations.
