Two people from Elbasan were involved in a serious incident yesterday in Peja, where one of them deliberately hit the other with a car, causing his death.
It is learned that the Albanian who remained a victim was Ilir Osmani, while the suspect for the incident is Sergio Jonuzi.
The latter initially ran away from the scene, but the Police managed to arrest him later, and sent him to the detention facility. The fight between them started because the victim, Ilir Osmani, allegedly burned the suspect Jonuzi's house.
To take revenge, Jonuzi ambushed Osman in Peja and hit him with a car. It is learned that the victim and the perpetrator have had an open court process in Albania.
The news about the detention of the suspect was confirmed by the spokesperson of the Basic Prosecution in Peja, Shkodran Nikçi.
"The suspect was arrested and, by order of the state prosecutor, he was detained for 48 hours for the criminal offense of aggravated murder with revenge," said Nikçi.
As part of the investigative actions, the Police seized a car, which is suspected to be the property of the suspect.
"All the details of the tragic incident have been made known by the Regional Police in Peja, through a new announcement to the media.
"The Regional Directorate of Police in Pejë, dated 24.04.2024, at around 17:25, was notified that on the street "Agim Binak Qelaj" in Peje, initially for a traffic accident, between a car and a pedestrian.
The police immediately responded to the scene and after initial investigations it was realized that it was not an accident, since the victim was hit by the suspect's car on purpose, causing serious bodily injuries.
The victim was sent to the Regional Hospital in Peja, but the same could not cope with the injuries and the medical team declared the death of the victim: a citizen of the Republic of Albania
The suspect fled the scene, abandoning the car in another location.
The relevant units of the Regional Police Directorate in Peja, after an intensive operative investigative work, have managed to identify and arrest the suspect: SJ born in 2001, Citizen of the Republic of Albania.
The suspect, after being interviewed by the Regional Sector Investigators, by order of the State Prosecutor, is detained for 48 hours for the criminal offense of "Serious Murder", while the dead body of the victim is sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Pristina for an autopsy. says the police announcement.
