Kosovo will soon have new military bases on the border with Serbia in response to threats coming from its northeastern neighbor.
Days ago, the Government gave the Kosovo Security Force the property of the former Dumoshi Airport, located about 15 kilometers from the border with Serbia.
These properties are located in the villages of Dumosh, Radojevë and Kaqubeg of Podujevo. The space that has been used by the Kosovo Security Force here in Dumosh covers an area of 48 hectares.
The former Dumoshi Airport used to be here. After the war, the forces of KFOR and later those of EULEX were positioned here. Before becoming a Yugoslav military base, Dumoshi Airport was used as a flight academy.
Citizens in Dumosh say that with the Kosovo army nearby, they will be safer.
In addition to the space in Dumosh, the KSF has also taken into use another space of 30 hectares in the village of Llukar, which used to be the barracks of the Kosovo Defense Forces, which will be the command line with the regiment that will be located in Dumosh.
The Ministry of Defense has called these areas of strategic importance, but has not provided other details.
"These spaces are of strategic importance to the security of our country, and since the projects that are planned to be carried out are of a military nature, we cannot share any other details with you."
Along the area of Llap where the new military bases of Kosovo will be located, Serbia has its 20 military bases. /A2CNN
