The government cabinet proposed today by Albin Kurti in the Assembly failed to receive the 61 votes needed to be approved. 56 MPs voted in favor, while 52 voted against and 4 abstained.
In addition to the LVV MPs, Kurti received the other 8 votes from non-Serb communities in parliament. The MPs who abstained were: Fatmir Limaj, Arbëreshë Krasniqi, Xhevahire Izmaku and Veton Berisha.
Democratic Party of Kosovo MP Hisen Berisha said that opposition parties have today respected the criticism of the United States of America, which considers Kurti an unreliable ally.
"It was in the interest of Kosovo to remove this government from power and to save that rift. I think that this intervention by the Constitutional Court should have been stopped at all costs. Let us not forget that in the Assembly of Kosovo there are these legislators who have invested and contributed to the independent state of Kosovo. With the departure of the Kurti government, dignity has been restored and Kosovo continues to remain a sovereign state with friendship with the USA, in relation to which we have achieved development. I think that the deputies have respected the request we received from the two American governments, which have considered Kurti destructive of damaging mutual relations ," he told "Report TV".
He did not rule out the possibility of holding early parliamentary elections, predicting that the result will be weak for the Vetëvendosje Movement, compared to the February 9 elections.
"In the first elections, there was a combined and controlled government, as far as Kurti is concerned. For 52 days, you know that he came into conflict with American geostrategic interests and they overthrew him with an ultimatum. In the second elections, there was another movement. He created comfort, as he will now try to do. He came back strongly with sponsors of the disappearance of Kosovo. Now he is in the same situation. Citizens have read the danger that comes from that tendency of the "Albinian" Third Republic," Berisha said.
