For the 45th time, the deputies of the Assembly of Kosovo will gather to continue the session on the constitution of the ninth parliamentary composition resulting from the February 9 elections.
In the 44th session, as in previous sessions, MPs refused to vote for a committee that would oversee the secret ballot for the election of the new Speaker of the Assembly.
The winner of the February elections, the Vetëvendosje Movement, has the exclusive right to propose a candidate for speaker of parliament.
The entity, led by Albin Kurti, insists that Haxhiu is the right person to lead the Assembly.
But for PDK and AAK, Haxhiu is considered a divisive figure, and they demand that Kurti's party change its candidate.
On June 26, the Constitutional Court of Kosovo requested that MPs constitute the Assembly within 30 days, but did not explain what could happen in case of non-compliance with this decision.
Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani invited representatives of political parties to a meeting to discuss options for a way out of the crisis. She also mentioned the possibility of turning to the Constitutional Court for additional clarifications.
The deputies must elect the speaker and five vice-speakers to finally constitute the new Assembly. Only after the Assembly is constituted can the new Government be formed.
