The government of Kosovo has given the alarm regarding the Serbian army on the border. Although it was announced that part of the military forces began to withdraw after the American ultimatum, the government of Kosovo informs that there are still many other formations. It is even said in the reaction that the soldiers have simply changed positions, while there is also talk of heavy weaponry at the border.
According to a response from the government, 48 military bases near the border with Kova have been put on alert.
" The movements of the Serbian army were made from three different directions; units of the second brigade of the Serbian army have moved from the direction of Rashka towards the northern border of our country; the units of the Third Brigade of the Serbian army have moved from the Region of Nis towards the north-eastern border of our country and the units of the Fourth Brigade have moved from the Region of Vranje towards the eastern border of the Republic of Kosovo. The military units of the Serbian army yesterday deployed their military and gendarmerie capacities across 48 forward operational bases, which are located along the border line with the Republic of Kosovo, a few kilometers deep into the territory of Serbia. This deployment also includes the deployment of anti-aircraft systems and heavy artillery", it is emphasized in the statement.
The government has recalled that on many occasions it has expressed concern about the existence of 48 forward bases of the Serbian army and gendarmerie and that they serve to support possible aggression against Kosovo.
" We call on President Vučić and the institutions of Serbia to immediately withdraw all military troops from the border line with Kosovo and to close and demilitarize the 28 forward military bases and 20 gendarmerie bases that represent a permanent threat to our country", it is stated in the call of the Government of Kosovo.
After the attack in Banjska, according to the Government, this action by Serbia is the next step threatening the territorial integrity of Kosovo.
" After the failure of the armed attack with the paramilitary formations led by Milan Radoicic, the march and deployment of Serbian military troops along the border with Kosovo is the next step of the institutions of Serbia to threaten the territorial integrity of our country and also the international military presence in the Republic of Kosovo", says the reaction. "The institutions of the Republic of Kosovo, in coordination with international partners, are more determined than ever to protect the territorial integrity, preserve the sovereignty, the constitutional order, the public order and the lives of the citizens of our country," it continued .
The USA yesterday made it clear to Serbia that it does not understand why the army is needed at the border and therefore issued an ultimatum to withdraw immediately.
