The Special Prosecutor's Office of Kosovo said that three members of the Serbian community in Kosovo have been arrested on suspicion of war crimes against the civilian population.
The announcement of the prosecutor's office does not provide any other details, except for the fact that the arrestees were sentenced to 48 hours of detention.
The arrests prompted a reaction from Serbian officials, who said they were "politically motivated".
Lista Serbe, the largest Serbian political party in Kosovo, through a reaction on social networks accused the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, that with this action he is continuing, as he said, "the plan to solve open political issues with violence and force". .
"He is treating the Kosovo Serbs as hostages in the negotiation process, whom he can attack whenever he wants and thus send a message to the European Union that he cannot do anything to him", says the reaction .
Lista Serbe also called on KFOR and EULEX "to prevent interventions by special police forces and other provocations that endanger peace and cause tensions".
The office for Kosovo in the government of Serbia said that "it will inform the international representatives and missions" that "everything that Pristina does is intended to incite new tensions and problems on the ground".
The director of this office, Petar Petkovic, said in a press conference that Prime Minister Kurti's goal is to exclude the Serbs and start a war.
"In the last two months, the Serbs have not done anything to harm anyone. They have not attacked anyone. They live their lives the way they know how. Before leaving for Brussels, Kurti himself said that it is quiet in the north", he emphasized.
Over 10,000 people were killed and over 5,000 were considered missing at the end of the war in Kosovo, which ended with the intervention of NATO forces, which put an end to the atrocities of the Serbian forces.
According to the data of the Humanitarian Law Fund, since the end of the war, the local and international judicial system has convicted about 70 people for war crimes, most of them of Albanian nationality. /VOA
