Analyst Ben Andoni says that Albin Kurti has shown that he was tactically weak in terms of dialogue, but the constant change of the rules of the game by the EU towards Kosovo also had an impact here.
According to him, Kurti has wasted a lot of time with the association and this is his only mistake.
"Kurti usually follows Serbia's positions, while the EU wanted Kosovo to go ahead with its own things. Kurti did this only when he was sitting in front of Vucic and with a clear predisposition not to find a concrete agreement. Kurti is convinced that just like Vucic that the final draft of the association is ready and after a while it will be given to him just to sign it, but Kurti is not getting enough guarantees regarding the operation of the association. Even the name change speaks to this unclear part related to executive attributes. Here is a big problem, that Kurt has wasted time and this is his only mistake. The partners are there again, as Kosovo is their product. Whatever happens, the US will be by Kosovo's side," Andoni said in an interview for Euronews Albania.
Prime Minister Albin Kurti has exploded in accusations against the international mediators Lajcak and Borrell, accusing them that in the last meeting on September 14 in Brussels, they were in coordination and synchronization with the Serbian president, Aleksandar Vucic.
"The European special emissary had such coordination with the president of Serbia because there is no other way to explain the fact that the lack of Serbia's proposals is hidden and on the other hand our proposals are ignored," he said in a press conference.
Kurti accused them of jointly exposing a scenario designed earlier to put at the center of the talks the obligation to establish the community of Serbian municipalities.
"On September 14, there was a clear positioning of the mediator against Kosovo in general and against the Basic Agreement in particular. Thus, they have gone too far in attacking the future of Kosovo. In the situation we are in, I appreciate that they cannot be distorted in my judgment with any casting of the eyes."
According to Kurti, Lajcak must account to the European Commission, the European Council, the European Parliament for his bias and lack of neutrality.
"Clearly there is asymmetry, there is a lack of neutrality. In particular, for my conviction, there has been a withdrawal of the mediator when Kosovo has successfully passed the first stage towards membership in the Council of Europe, which happened on April 24."
The Kosovar Prime Minister said that he has sent a letter to Berlin, Paris and Washington. He asked the EU and the USA to remove punitive measures against Kosovo.
