The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, has requested the help of the United States (USA) to speed up the process of Kosovo's membership in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), during a meeting with the American Senator, Jack Reed, on Tuesday in Pristina .
Osmani said on August 8 that the USA has no greater ally and friend in the region than the Republic of Kosovo, describing the Kosovar people as the most pro-American in Europe and the world.
She thanked Senator Reed, who is the chairman of the Armed Forces Committee in the US Senate, for the US support for the Kosovo Security Force (KSF), respectively the inclusion of Kosovo in the US Military Training Assistance with the National Defense Authorization Law of 2024.
"Kosovo aims for membership in NATO and inclusion in the Partnership for Peace (PfP), so the support of the USA in accelerating this process is important and necessary. Our hope is that Kosovo will be in PfP as soon as possible as a step before NATO membership", said Osmani.
Regarding the political and security developments, according to the announcement, the president emphasized that Kosovo has taken steps to improve the situation in the north of the country, as well as pointed out the destabilizing actions of Serbia and its cooperation with Russia.
She also emphasized that Kosovo is a multi-ethnic state, whose Constitution guarantees a high level of protection of the rights and freedoms of all communities. According to President Osmani, these rights and freedoms are the essence of the values of Kosovo society and as such should remain intact./REL
