Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani has dissolved the country's Parliament after meeting with party leaders, media in Pristina report.

Political parties have remained divided on setting the date for the snap elections, failing to reach a consensus. Some political forces prefer the elections to be held on December 21, while others favor December 28.

Now, the final decision on the election date remains in the hands of President Osmani, who will officially announce the date of the electoral process.

This was also announced by the leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, Ramush Haradinaj, after the meeting.

"Today, the decree for the dissolution of the Kosovo Assembly was signed," he said, among other things.

After the dissolution of the Assembly, according to the Constitution, the president is obliged to set the date for extraordinary elections within 40 days.

Osmani has already held consultations with party representatives, who have expressed December 21 and 28 as preferred dates for holding the elections.

With the signing of the decision, the country officially enters the electoral process, while current institutions will continue to work in a limited capacity until the formation of a new government.
