The American ambassador to Serbia, Christopher Hill, said today in Belgrade that the escalation of violence in Banjska of Kosovo is a "tragic event".
Hill stated that we should all condemn the killing of a policeman in Kosovo.
"We must all condemn the killing of a member of the Kosovo police and mourn the loss of life, but we must continue with the political process. Processes are underway to encourage dialogue," Hill said at the public debate "The Changing Geopolitical Environment and Challenges to the International Legal Order."
Hill also said the diplomatic process should be strengthened in the coming days and weeks.
"This situation is being treated very seriously and numerous discussions are being held on what further steps should be taken", said the American ambassador to Serbia.
Hill attended the meeting of the representatives of the QUINT countries and the head of the European Union delegation with the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić. However, the American diplomat did not answer the journalists' questions about what he talked about with the president of Serbia.
Vucic earlier wrote on Instagram that during the meeting with international diplomats, he had requested that the NATO peacekeeping mission in Kosovo, "KFOR, take care of all security issues in the north of Kosovo."
