Barack Obama finally admits: I had a deep crisis with my wife

Barack Obama has revealed that he is working hard to reconcile with his wife, Michelle Obama, after his two terms in the White House caused problems in their marriage.

"I had a deep rift with my wife," Obama admitted in a conversation with Hamilton College president Stephen Tepper.

"So I try to get out of this situation by doing fun things every now and then," the former US president added. He hinted that his two terms in the White House affected his relationship with Michelle.

"Let me say this: It definitely helped that, leaving the White House, I had a little more time to spend with him," he said in an interview on CBS Mornings in 2023.

Michelle has previously spoken out about the problems in her marriage, saying that during the years that Barack was involved in politics she was focused on raising their daughters, Sasha and Malia.

In a 2022 interview with Revolt TV, the former first lady revealed that "there were 10 years when I couldn't stand my husband."

The Obamas, who now live in Washington, D.C., dominated the media as rumors spread that they were on the verge of divorce. The rumors were further fueled when Michelle did not accompany her husband to both the funeral of former President Jimmy Carter and the inauguration of Donald Trump.

The couple tried to downplay the fact by posting photos together on Valentine's Day accompanied by tender messages. Michelle and Barack met in the late 1980s at the law firm where they both worked and married in 1992.

In his 2020 memoir, the former president wrote that he was in love almost from the moment he saw her.
